Pipe-bursting, as the name suggests, involves pulling a new, continuous pipe through the old sewer, simultaneously destroying and replacing it with a stronger material. This technique preserves any landscaping or other structures that lay above the previous sewer, and reduces excavation to just two holes. We use a high-density polyethylene pipe (HDPE), which will not corrode, is extremely tough and is flexible enough to follow the contours of the old pipe. Sections of HDPE pipe are fused into a continuous pipe, meaning that there are no weak joints or connection points where roots can infiltrate or where sanitary waste can accumulate. Unlike with cured-in-place pipe (CIPP), the inside diameter of the new pipe will not be less than the original.
